Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 15, 2026

WaveSnip ("we", "our", "us") is a video editing app developed by alpdigital. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We are committed to building tools that respect your privacy: your videos never leave your device.

1. Summary (TL;DR)

  • Your videos, photos, and audio stay on your device. We do not upload, store, or transmit your content to any server.
  • We collect anonymous usage analytics (which features are used, how often) via Firebase Analytics to improve the app. This data is not linked to your identity.
  • We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA) and do not track you across apps or websites.
  • Apple handles all purchases — we never see your payment details.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

  • Your name, email, phone number, or physical address
  • Your photos, videos, or any content imported into the app
  • Your location
  • Your contacts
  • Your health or financial data
  • Advertising identifiers (IDFA)

3. Data We Collect

3.1 Anonymous Usage Analytics (Firebase Analytics by Google)

We use Firebase Analytics, a service provided by Google LLC, to understand which features creators use most and to improve WaveSnip. The following anonymous data may be collected:

Data Purpose Linked to you?
Product interactions (e.g. "export_completed", "paywall_viewed") Understand feature usage, improve UX No
Device type, iOS version, app version Diagnose compatibility issues No
Firebase installation ID (anonymous, per-device) Distinguish sessions for analytics No — anonymous and per-device only
Country/region (coarse, from IP) Regional analytics No

Google processes this data according to their Firebase Data Processing Terms.

3.2 Purchase Data (Apple StoreKit)

When you purchase a subscription or lifetime plan, Apple processes the transaction. We receive a confirmation that you have an active subscription — but we do not receive your name, email, credit card, or billing address. Apple's privacy policy applies to the payment itself.

3.3 Photo Library Access

When you import a video from your photo library, iOS asks for permission (NSPhotoLibraryUsageDescription). We only access the specific video you choose. When you save an exported video, iOS asks for permission to write to the library (NSPhotoLibraryAddUsageDescription). We do not scan or enumerate your photo library in the background.

4. How We Use Analytics Data

  • To understand which features are used most and prioritize improvements
  • To diagnose crashes and bugs
  • To measure the effectiveness of updates
  • To produce aggregate statistics (e.g. "% of users who export a video in their first session")

Analytics data is never sold, shared with third-party advertisers, or used to build a profile of you.

5. Third-Party Services

WaveSnip relies on the following third parties to provide specific services. We have no control over their data practices — please review their privacy policies for details.

  • Apple — App distribution, in-app purchases (StoreKit), rating prompts. Apple Privacy Policy
  • Google (Firebase Analytics) — Anonymous usage analytics. Google Privacy Policy

6. Data Storage & Retention

  • Your editing content (videos, projects, exported files) is stored on your device only. Deleting the app removes all of it.
  • Anonymous analytics data is retained by Firebase for up to 14 months, then automatically deleted.

7. Children's Privacy

WaveSnip is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. We do not direct the app at children under 13 for marketing purposes, and we do not require account creation.

8. Your Rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA)

For EU / UK residents (GDPR)

Our legal basis for processing anonymous analytics data is legitimate interest — specifically, understanding how our app is used in order to improve it. Since no personal data is collected, most GDPR data-subject rights (access, erasure, portability) are not applicable — there is no personal data to access, erase, or port.

However, if you would prefer we do not collect analytics at all, please contact us and we will honor the request.

For California residents (CCPA)

We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA. You have the right to request information about our data practices by contacting us at [email protected].

9. Security

We design WaveSnip so that there is very little personal data to protect — your content stays on your device, and the analytics we do collect are anonymous. We follow industry best practices for any data in transit (HTTPS/TLS).

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be communicated via the app or App Store update notes.
