Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 3, 2026
PDF Tools (the "app") is published by alpdigital. This policy explains what data the app does — and does not — handle. The short version: the app collects nothing. The long version is below.
1. Data we collect
None. PDF Tools does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data. There is no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no remote crash reporter, and no first-party telemetry.
The app's PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy manifest, which Apple
publishes alongside every App Store listing, declares
NSPrivacyCollectedDataTypes = [] and
NSPrivacyTracking = false.
2. How your PDFs are processed
Every operation — Merge, Split, Compress, Rotate, Watermark, Remove Password, Extract Text, and PDF to Word — runs locally on your device using Apple's PDFKit and Core Graphics frameworks. Your documents never leave your device.
Output files are written to the app's temporary directory until you choose to share or save them via the system Share Sheet.
3. Data stored on your device
The app stores the following information locally for normal operation:
- A counter of free-tier operations used (resets if you reinstall).
- A history list of recent files you have processed (max 50, retained for 30 days).
- Your preferences: theme, language, haptic feedback toggle.
- Your Apple ID purchase entitlement, derived from the App Store receipt — used only to determine whether you have unlocked Plus.
None of this is transmitted anywhere. It lives in the app sandbox. Deleting the app deletes all of it.
4. iCloud sync
PDF Tools Plus optionally syncs your history list (filenames and timestamps only — not the file contents) across your devices via your private iCloud account. This is processed by Apple's iCloud infrastructure under their privacy policy. We do not have access to your iCloud data.
5. Purchases
Plus is sold as a one-time non-consumable in-app purchase
(com.alpdigital.pdftools.plus.lifetime) processed by
Apple. Apple shares with us the receipt verification result — i.e.
"this Apple ID has bought Plus" — and nothing else. We do not see
your payment information.
6. Children
PDF Tools does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13. The app is not directed at children but is safe for them to use.
7. Files.app extension & Shortcuts
The Files.app Action Extension and Shortcuts integrations only access PDF files you explicitly hand them. They share the same on-device processing guarantee as the main app.
8. Third-party services
The app does not integrate with any third-party service that processes user data.
The privacy/terms pages and the support email are hosted at alpdigital.io/pdf-tools. Loading these web pages is subject to standard web server logs which record IP and user-agent for security purposes; these logs are not associated with any in-app identity.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top and, where appropriate, surface a notice in the app. The current version will always be at this URL.
